Zscaler announces Lightwell collaboration with IBM and Red Hat

The collaboration links network protections with software fixes. Zscaler’s shield remains in early access.

Listen to this article

Zscaler announced a collaboration with IBM and Red Hat on October 5, pairing Autonomous Application Shield with Lightwell’s open source software fixes.

Under the proposed workflow, Zscaler says its connectors assess each private application. The cloud service chooses tailored protections for network traffic while Lightwell supplies tested patches for underlying open source flaws.

The aim is to reduce exposure while fixes are prepared and deployed. The announcement provides no independent performance results or evidence of completed customer deployments.

Early access limits

The shield remains in early access. The collaboration’s availability, capabilities and timing may change. Pricing and a general release date were not disclosed.

Zscaler documented shield early access in July. IBM and Red Hat announced Lightwell’s commercial offerings that month. IBM says Lightwell combines AI models with human engineers.
