Atlassian expands OpenAI partnership for Rovo agents
The October 6 agreement broadens model access while deeper Jira integrations remain under exploration.

Atlassian and OpenAI announced an expanded partnership on October 6 to put OpenAI models behind agents across Atlassian’s platform and Rovo.
The deal combines those models with the Teamwork Graph, which connects company projects, people, documents and decisions. OpenAI says more than 3,000 Atlassian developers already use Codex.
Deeper Jira integrations remain exploratory. The companies describe future capabilities for assigning work to agents, reviewing results and measuring development performance through Atlassian’s DX platform.
Atlassian’s connection guide distinguishes Rovo model selection from connecting ChatGPT or Codex to workplace content. Available Rovo models vary by plan, region and configuration. Access to company content uses existing Atlassian permissions.
The practical question for teams is which integration their existing plan and permissions actually support.
