Templafy survey puts document review at the center of AI productivity
A survey of regular AI users asks what happens between a generated draft and finished work.

A Templafy survey released October 1 found that 95 percent of respondents edit AI generated business documents before using them. Nearly half said the review involved can leave little time saved. The findings put the work after generation into the productivity debate.
Who the survey represents
Sapio Research surveyed 2,000 workers online in August. Participants were in the United States or United Kingdom, worked at companies with at least 100 employees and used AI for business documents at least monthly. Respondents reported spending almost four hours a week reviewing, correcting and validating generated documents.
That sample describes people already using AI regularly for a specific kind of work. It cannot establish how common AI use is among all employees. The figures are also reported experiences, so they should not be treated as a controlled measurement of how much time a particular model saves.
Count the time to a usable document
A draft that appears quickly can still leave a person with several different jobs. They may need to check a source, compare a number with the original record, adjust wording for the audience and obtain an internal signoff. Those are distinct steps, and they should be visible when a team evaluates a new workflow.
For a practical test, compare similar documents from initial request through approval. Record the time spent prompting and revising, the number of corrections and whether the finished work meets the same standard. A smaller total matters more than an impressive first draft. The comparison should also account for work that would have required review without AI.
Read the findings with their commercial context
Templafy sells document generation software and presents the report as evidence for improving AI document workflows.
The survey is useful for identifying questions to investigate inside a team. It does not prove that every organization faces the same burden, that AI creates a net loss of time or that one supplier’s product resolves it. The next useful evidence is a consistent comparison of finished work.
