AlphaSense brings AI assistants to PowerPoint and Excel

Finance teams do not lose hours because research is hard to find. They lose hours moving trusted intel into the files that get sent upstairs. On July 14, 2026, AlphaSense launched native AI assistants for PowerPoint and Excel, plus deeper slide workflows inside Generative Search, under Work Products.
The pitch is blunt: keep creation where the work already lives, ground outputs in AlphaSenseโs premium corpus, and stop treating a chatbot paste as an audit trail.
What the PowerPoint assistant actually builds
AlphaSense for PowerPoint sits inside the deck. Users query the full content library without leaving the slide canvas, drop source-grounded insights onto slides, and apply firm templates, charts, and style rules under deadline pressure. Generative Search can also spin up deliverables from a single prompt โ from a one-page competitive brief to a long board deck โ then refine them conversationally. Teams can upload corporate templates and style guides, and schedule recurring outputs through AlphaSense agents.
That is a different shape than โsummarize this PDF and copy it into Slide 7.โ The company is selling research-to-asset continuity: intel in, branded deck out, sourcing retained as the narrative hardens. Blue Deer Capitalโs Daniel McClure, quoted in the AlphaSense press release, said his advisory team moves from complex information to board-ready presentations roughly 60 to 70 percent faster. Treat the percentage as a customer anecdote, not a benchmark. The directional claim still matters: senior teams want less sorting and more judgment time.
The assistant also reviews finished decks for logical gaps, stale data, and inconsistencies before a client or board sees them.
Excel workflows that stay source-grounded
AlphaSense for Excel targets the other half of the finance ritual. Users can edit models, add scenarios, and restructure outputs in natural language without breaking formulas or dependencies โ a claim every spreadsheet tool makes, and one buyers should verify on live workbooks. More distinctive is the live pull: financials, filings, transcripts, and comps from AlphaSense into Excel with full source traceability. Analysts can cross-reference model inputs against AlphaSense research and surface conflicting signals before the file goes upstairs.
Local file processing is the enterprise bait. AlphaSense says sensitive models, strategic plans, and proprietary data stay on the userโs device. For banks and large corporates, that line is table stakes. If the security story holds in procurement, Work Products clears a door Copilot-class tools still fight for in regulated shops.
Who this is for inside corporates
The buyer is not โeveryone with Office.โ It is associates building strategic-buyer analyses, equity and corp-dev analysts updating projections, and IR or strategy teams turning Generative Search into memos and competitive packs. AlphaSense already sells into thousands of business and finance organizations on a corpus it pegs above 500 million premium documents. Work Products is how that corpus stops dying in a research tab.
Chris Ackerson, AlphaSenseโs SVP of Product, framed the launch as completing an end-to-end loop and laying groundwork for SuperAnalyst, an agent layer that could eventually update decks and models as new information lands. That is roadmap talk. What shipped today is assistants and search-side creation, not full autonomous deliverable ownership.
Where Work Products still need a human check
Source grounding reduces the dumbest class of hallucinations. It does not remove narrative spin, selective comps, or a model that is formula-intact and assumption-wrong. Boards still need a human who owns the story. Template fidelity can paper over weak logic. Scheduled agents can automate a bad recurring brief as easily as a good one.
Analysis: AlphaSense is betting the durable moat in finance AI is not prettier slides. It is trusted content plus in-file iteration under enterprise control. If the assistants hold sourcing under real deal timelines, Work Products becomes infrastructure. If teams still rebuild half the deck by hand, this is another assistant demo with a sharper corpus.
