OpenAI releases desktop fixes for ChatGPT Work thread failures
Updated desktop versions restore thread creation across Linux macOS and Windows.

OpenAI has resolved the desktop incident that prevented users from creating ChatGPT Work threads. The company says updated app versions include the fix for Linux, macOS and Windows.
The October 7 notice advises affected users to update to the latest version. It identifies version 26.1002.51308 as affected and lists Codex in ChatGPT Desktop as the impacted component.
Fixes replace the earlier rollback plan
OpenAI initially said it was preparing a rollback. Later updates reported fixes for Linux and macOS while Windows work continued. The latest notice confirms availability across all three operating systems.
A separate Workspace Agents incident also shows full recovery. That problem affected responses rather than desktop thread creation.
ByteForward checked both notices on October 7 at 12.13 UTC. This report describes OpenAI’s status updates rather than independent testing of the fixed applications.
