Google announces Modernization Hub for preview code assessments

Googleโ€™s console interface brings Java, .NET and mainframe assessment tools together.

Listen to this article

Google announced Modernization Hub on October 5 as part of its Google Cloud Modernize portfolio, describing a new console interface for Java, .NET and mainframe assessments.

In Googleโ€™s demonstration, the Hub is marked Preview. Java and .NET users see options to start assessments using source code uploaded to Cloud Storage and view reports. A separate section provides mainframe setup and assessment jobs.

Existing tools behind the interface

Google says the Hub integrates CodMod. That tool already offered Gemini code analysis and modernization recommendations in its August 2025 preview.
