MacPaw launches Eney for Mac and iPhone

Listen to this article

MacPaw announced Eney’s public launch on October 15, 2026, introducing an assistant for everyday work on Mac and iPhone. It prepares tasks across apps, files and the computer itself, with approval controls for actions that change things.

The launch brings a practical buying decision. Eney combines access to personal work with metered AI use, so its usefulness depends on both the tasks it can finish and the information a user is comfortable sharing.

What Eney offers

The Setapp catalog describes inbox summaries, email drafts, Google Docs creation, meeting scheduling and file management. Listed connections include Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, Notion, Jira, Confluence, Linear, Canva and Dropbox. Its morning briefing can pull together meetings, reminders, open items and unread messages.

MacPaw’s announcement also describes warnings about low storage, memory pressure and crashing apps. Preset workflows include planning a day and reviewing a week, with scheduled or manual runs. These are vendor descriptions of the product. ByteForward has not installed Eney or tested those workflows.

The catalog lists Eney Wand for working with selected screen content and identifies version 1.0.1. Readers should check the exact task and connected service they need rather than treating that feature list as a guarantee that every operation works on both devices.

Mac and iPhone access

The Mac requirements are Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later. The US App Store listing is free to download and requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26. Its version history recorded 1.0.0 on October 5, before the public launch announcement. October 15 should therefore not be read as the first appearance of an iPhone download.

MacPaw says a full Setapp membership is not required. Setapp labels Eney a standalone app requiring AI credits. A Setapp account and its credit balance are distinct from a membership covering the wider app library.

The mobile listing still describes a companion for active Setapp users. That wording leaves the access explanation less clear than the launch announcement. The Terms of Service also allow features and integrations to differ by platform, device and version. Do not assume complete feature parity or identical access with every plan.

Our report on Amazon’s Bee Frontier also separates device availability from subscription access. Compare the features you need on each platform before treating headline prices as directly comparable.

What the AI credits cost

The advertised monthly prices are in US dollars.

  • Starter provides 10,000 credits for US$14.99 per month
  • Boost provides 20,000 credits for US$29.99 per month
  • Power provides 30,000 credits for US$49.99 per month

Subscriptions renew monthly, and unused subscription credits do not carry into the next period. The price cards say tax is additional, while the same page’s footnote says applicable taxes are included. Those conflicting statements do not establish a final checkout total.

The terms say the trial ends after 14 days or 10,000 credits, whichever comes first. Usage varies with task complexity, model and data volume. A balance of 10,000 credits does not promise 10,000 requests. Separately purchased credit packages are described as expiring after 12 months.

A useful trial would measure the credits consumed by a few recurring tasks and whether the results need correction. That gives a firmer basis for choosing a plan than the size of the allowance alone.

Where the data goes

Eney’s privacy notice says cloud processing is enabled by default and no local model currently answers requests. OpenAI, Anthropic and Google are among its AI providers.

File actions and OCR can run on the Mac, and memories are stored there. Relevant file content, tool results and memories can still reach AI providers. Local execution does not establish local inference.

Signed in chats sync through MacPaw’s servers and lack end to end encryption. MacPaw says provider training is disabled, while limited retention can still apply. The notice also says analytics can include prompts and replies after automated filtering that does not remove every identifier.

After device or service access is granted, reading data needs no repeated approval. Creating, changing, sending or deleting content requires approval unless the user has allowed broader actions. These are the vendor’s stated controls, not findings from an independent security audit.

What to check before committing

Eney is proprietary software supplied under a limited, revocable usage license. The terms retrieved for this report are dated October 14 and effective October 15, but their introduction still refers to a prerelease version. Readers should review the terms and purchase screen that apply when they sign up.

Start with a bounded task and permissions you understand. Check which work can be completed on each device, how much credit it consumes and what material it sends away for processing. Eney’s value will depend on reliable completed work. The launch materials alone cannot establish that reliability.
