Google Flow leak points to Nano Banana 2.1
A September 27 report identifies a changed image model label in Flow. Google’s public documentation still does not list Nano Banana 2.1.

Google Flow may be preparing an image model update under the name Nano Banana 2.1. In a September 27 report, TestingCatalog said the label had replaced an earlier Nano Banana 2.5 Flash reference in Flow’s web build. This remains an unconfirmed product leak.
The article includes a screenshot of a character creation interface whose model selector lists Nano Banana 2.1. ByteForward inspected that published image but has not authenticated the build or used the listed model. A visible menu entry does not establish that the option is functional or publicly available.
What Google documents today
Google’s Gemini API model directory, checked October 1, lists Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana 2 Lite and Nano Banana Pro. It identifies Nano Banana 2 as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image. Neither that directory nor the API release notes contains a Nano Banana 2.1 entry at this check.
That is a bounded documentation check. It does not rule out private testing or a feature confined to another Google product. It does mean the reported Flow label cannot yet supply developers with a documented API model identifier or migration path.
What the leak leaves open
The number 2.1 alone cannot establish how much image quality, editing accuracy or speed would change. It also cannot distinguish a new model from revised product naming. Those questions require documentation or reproducible comparisons with the current option.
For creators, the useful next evidence would be a working selection available to their account and examples produced under clearly identified settings. For developers, it would be a Google model page specifying access, pricing and supported inputs. Until then, this is a naming clue rather than a basis for changing a production workflow.
