What to know
GitHub Copilot Student is a dedicated free plan for verified GitHub Education students. It includes an AI credit allowance and coding assistance beyond the general Copilot Free tier.
Student verification and Copilot activation are separate steps. After approval, activate the benefit through GitHub Education. The benefit can take several days to apply. GitHub checks eligibility monthly.
No promotional end date is published. Current plans use automatic model selection for Copilot Student, and third party agents are excluded. This is a separate student plan, so older claims promising the full paid Copilot Pro feature set should not be relied on. Usage limits can change.
