What to know

Eligible research faculty and postdoctoral researchers can apply for 12 months of complimentary ChatGPT access in a separate research workspace. Approved teams receive up to five seats and Pro level rate limits.

Applicants must be an author of a qualifying paper from arXiv, bioRxiv or ChemRxiv posted within the last three years. Eligible fields are Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Materials, Computer Science, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics. SheerID verification must use the same institutional email as the ChatGPT account. Collaborators must come from the same institution and verify separately.

Approval is selective and typically takes one to two weeks. A payment card is required for verification, but the workspace does not automatically renew or charge after the free period. No application deadline is published. API credits are excluded and additional metered usage may cost extra.

Research faculty and postdoctoral researchers at eligible institutions in supported countries. Authorship of a relevant recent paper in an eligible research field, a research use case and matching institutional email verification are required. Approval is not guaranteed.
