Claude mobile update brings CarPlay and better tablet layouts

Anthropic’s October 29 mobile-app announcement adds CarPlay voice and account switching. Pull-down search on iPhone and iPad is coming soon, not available yet.
Which changes apply to your device?
| Device or feature | Announced change |
|---|---|
| iPad and iPhone Duo | Side-by-side output with a full-screen option. |
| iOS and Android | Multiple signed-in accounts. |
| Chromebooks, Googlebooks and foldables | Resizable sidebar, trackpad, desktop shortcuts and right-click. |
| App language options | 24 additions, 33 total, across web, desktop, iOS and Android. |
| iPhone with CarPlay | Voice mode is now supported. |
| iPhone and iPad search | Pull-down search is coming soon. |
Anthropic also claims quicker voice responses, improved recognition in noise or quiet speech, and more natural non-English speech. ByteForward has not tested those improvements.
The useful change is less switching between views
Consider reviewing a draft while asking for one paragraph to change. Keeping the result and conversation visible together makes it easier to compare the instruction with the output. That is a practical use case, not a measured productivity gain. A larger display only helps if the controls you need remain reachable with the input device you actually use.
Claude’s artifact guide already lets mobile users request and edit designs, decks and documents. Sharing settings still require the web or desktop app. Creating artifacts also requires the file-creation capability to be enabled. A layout improvement does not remove those product boundaries.
Before relying on a tablet-only workflow, try a complete sample task: create a draft, revise a section, locate it again and check the sharing controls. Use non-sensitive sample material. This is a suggested evaluation, not a test performed for this article.
Voice access does not mean unlimited use
The voice-mode guide says the feature remains in beta and conversations count toward the normal limits of the selected plan. It supports Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Available models follow the subscription, and the current guide excludes Claude Fable from voice mode.
The same guide distinguishes hands-free conversation from push-to-talk. If recognition struggles in a noisy setting, push-to-talk gives the user control over when listening starts and stops. A claim of better recognition is not a guarantee that every microphone, connection or environment will behave the same way.
Check language and account settings separately
Claude’s language documentation treats the app’s display language and voice language as separate settings. Changing one does not automatically configure the other. Check both before assuming the interface language determines what Claude hears and speaks.
For people juggling personal and work accounts, a sensible habit is to confirm the active account before starting a conversation or attaching a file. Convenience at the account picker should not become a reason to skip that check.
