AI game mashups give familiar worlds new ways to play

From web swinging in Gotham to Minecraft crossovers, community projects use different modding approaches and carry different limits.

Listen to this article

Community developers are putting Minecraft creatures into Los Santos, skateboards into Modern Warfare maps and web swinging into Gotham. AI coding tools appear in several creators’ accounts, but the interesting result is how familiar movement and game rules behave in a different world.

The examples collected in ByteForward’s October 5 video also involve different kinds of software. Some connect two running games. Others build on a rewritten engine, add a Minecraft mod or replace a character. Those differences matter when judging what a recording shows and what another player could reproduce.

ByteForward’s October 5, 2026 overview of unofficial game mashups and creator recordings.

Two games sharing movement and a city

ArkWeb runs Marvel’s Spider Man Remastered alongside Batman Arkham Knight. The project describes Gotham’s collision being streamed into the other game’s physics world, while the hero’s rendered image is placed into Gotham’s view. That connects the movement system with the surfaces it needs to work against.

The requirements are specific. ArkWeb lists the Steam version of Spider Man Remastered at build 4.0630, a controller and a PC capable of running both games. Its README calls the project experimental and identifies thin buildings that can be passed through, temporary collision gaps and lighting mismatches. A convincing clip can coexist with those limitations.

The Universal Modder toolkit takes a broader approach to helping coding agents inspect games, build mods and test them. Its documented Minecraft and GTA V example includes passing actions such as TNT explosions between the games. That is the part that makes a crossover more interesting than simply displaying one game inside another.

A familiar map can support different rules

The Modern Warfare, Skate and Minecraft mashup project takes another route through an IW4L Rust rewrite. Its documentation describes weapons interacting with Minecraft blocks and skateboard movement colliding with them. It should be evaluated as that particular engine project, rather than assumed to use ArkWeb’s two game arrangement.

The appeal is easy to understand. A rooftop designed around a firefight becomes a place to land a trick. A block wall becomes something the imported weapon system can affect. Those interactions give players a new reason to explore a map they already know.

Minecraft mods bring their own requirements

Rocketcraft turns Minecraft into a setting for cars, boost, a ball and goals. In the creator’s post, the work is attributed to Opus 5.5. The linked Modrinth page was unavailable when checked for this article, so a working public download was not verified.

A Counter Strike creator’s follow up describes Minecraft matches with friends and bots. The creator says a copy of CS handles bot decisions in the background, while Minecraft decides hits, damage, money and round wins. This is a specific combination of systems, rather than evidence that every part of Counter Strike has moved unchanged into Minecraft.

Another creator attributes a Sonic Adventure 2 movement experiment to Claude and the Universal Modder plugin, describing it as almost complete with remaining issues. Its scope is different again, focused on how a character moves through the world.

Keep the AI claims tied to the evidence

ER Mario brings Super Mario 64 movement into Elden Ring and is described as a work in progress. It belongs in the wider crossover discussion, but its inclusion does not establish that AI created it. For the smaller Arthur Morgan replacement in Battlefront II, ChrisGPT explicitly credits Opus for almost the whole mod and Codex for research. That is a creator attribution, which can be reported without treating the clip itself as proof of the development process.

For anyone considering a trial, start with the project’s requirements, current limitations and setup documentation. ArkWeb explicitly requires the player’s own copies of both games and warns about save behavior. Keep backups and check the exact supported versions before changing an installation. None of the projects discussed here was installed or independently tested for this article.

The useful development is that creators are experimenting with specific combinations of worlds, movement and rules. AI tools can be part of that process, alongside the original games, modding infrastructure and years of community work. That shared foundation is essential to understanding what these demonstrations actually show.
