AMD brings 192GB Ryzen AI Halo to Micro Center for $7,299.99

Listen to this article

AMD announced retail availability for its expanded Ryzen AI Halo developer desktop on October 12, pairing its Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor with 192GB of unified memory. The announcement targets developers running AI models locally.

The Linux version appears in Micro Center’s product results at $7,299.99, with pickup in stores rather than shipping. The listing identifies SKU 100057. Stock at individual stores was not verified, so the listed price should not be read as a promise of immediate collection.

Halo itself is an existing product line. AMD unveiled the original platform at CES in January, describing a compact developer computer with up to 128GB of memory and support for Windows and Linux.

More memory for local models

AMD says the new system can accommodate models with 300 billion parameters or more at 4 bit quantization, with up to 160GB assigned to graphics memory. That describes capacity under a specific compression setting. It does not establish response speed, output quality or how quickly a complete agent task will finish.

The separate specification sheet lists memory bandwidth of 273GB per second, a 2TB SSD, 10 gigabit Ethernet and Wi Fi 7. The enclosure measures 150 by 150 by 45.4 millimeters and weighs less than 1.2 kilograms. Its small footprint makes this a desktop development option, while network connectivity matters for moving models and datasets between machines.

Software arrives in stages

AMD’s product page describes a Developer Center that brings together tools, playbooks and updates. It also marks AMD Sync, an application for accessing tools and synchronizing files from another computer, as forthcoming. Buyers should distinguish the software supplied with the machine from capabilities still on the roadmap.

The October announcement separately says a Windows version equipped with the PRO 495 processor and Project Zenith is coming later.

Microsoft announced Project Zenith in September as a Windows development setup with curated tools and preset preferences. Windows Terminal and Visual Studio Code are pinned to the taskbar, while File Explorer exposes extensions and hidden files. Microsoft also describes Linux containers through Windows Subsystem for Linux.

Check the exact configuration

Micro Center’s same results page also lists the older 128GB Linux Halo at $3,999.99. That lower price belongs to a different configuration. Buyers following a general Halo link should confirm the processor, memory and operating system before comparing prices or planning a deployment.

AMD limits the platform’s stated purchase and use availability to the United States. Its product page also cautions that supported features can vary with the operating system. This report has not tested either configuration or independently measured AMD’s performance claims.
