Claude Startups reaches capacity on Team and API offers

Anthropic says its free Claude Team year and $1,000 startup API grant are over capacity. The program FAQ, checked on October 9, 2026, says all applications will be reviewed again and some statuses may change. The notice gives no change date or reopening date.
Already claimed offers remain usable, according to Anthropic. Existing members retain partner offers, Applied AI office hours and events. Monthly API credits for Max and Team subscribers also remain available as usual.
What the expansion offered
Anthropic expanded Claude Startups on October 6. The announcement offered approved companies $1,000 in API credits and a free year of Team with up to five Premium seats for organizations new to Team. It invited startups founded within five years or funded within two to apply.
The advertised $7,000 maximum combined the grant with $6,000 for five Premium seats at annual billing rates. Actual value depended on seat count and type. The separate $45,000 Startup Stack figure was the combined maximum of partner discounts and credits at September 2026 list prices. Each partner sets its terms, and companies may not qualify for or combine every offer.
For a founder planning costs, count only the tools the team expects to use. A discount on an extra subscription does not automatically reduce an existing bill.
Distribution still needs approval
The announcement also promised help building connectors and plugins and submitting them to Claude Marketplace for review. Program membership does not guarantee an approved listing.
Check your grant before spending
An approval email without a completed claim should not be treated as guaranteed funding with another review planned. Check the account before committing spending against the offer. Startup credits work through Claude Console, not AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI.
The Supplemental Credit Terms say promotional credits expire when specified at issuance. Check the expiry recorded for your grant before planning usage. The general fallback in those terms does not extend a grant that already has a stated expiry. Credits have no cash value, cannot be sold or transferred, and are tied to the account holding them. Closing that account expires its credits.
The program terms assign benefits to the company account identified in the application. Keep the company name, approval notice, claimed benefits, expiry and balance together. If they disagree, ask support to confirm the status for that organization before relying on the grant.
Those terms, last updated in May 2025, already made selection subject to verification and allowed program changes. They do not date the capacity notice or establish how a particular application will be decided.
