GitHub starts fixing missing Copilot agent usage data
GitHub says missing agent usage data cannot be recovered and billing was unchanged.

GitHub disclosed on October 6 that some Copilot agent sessions were omitted from usage reports or counted as CLI activity after IDEs adopted the Copilot SDK. Those sessions lacked their IDE identity.
Updates restore future reporting
The fix is available in Visual Studio Code 1.139.0 and later. GitHub expects remaining IDE fixes to finish rolling out by November. Affected developers need to update before their activity is counted correctly again.
GitHub cannot recover the missing data or correct inflated historical CLI counts. Billing was unaffected, and Copilot CLI users do not need an update.
Teams comparing adoption across editors should flag the affected reporting period before drawing conclusions about declining agent use. An apparent usage change can reflect incomplete measurement.
