TikTok unveils AI shopping agents and direct brand checkout
Shopping Assistant, Buy Direct and Lead Agent are available through eligibility based tests arranged with TikTok sales partners.

TikTok introduced Shopping Assistant, Buy Direct and Lead Agent on October 5 at Advertising Week New York, adding AI conversations and direct brand checkout to its advertising products. The company says its commerce experiences are being built with partners including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe.
The access detail is in TikTokโs product guide. All three are available through eligibility based testing opportunities. Advertisers need to contact their TikTok sales partner.
Shopping and checkout
Shopping Assistant answers product questions using information supplied by the merchant. It appears on product pages inside TikTokโs browser, where shoppers can continue to the merchantโs checkout. Buy Direct provides native checkout using saved payment methods and addresses, plus order tracking. Brands remain the merchant of record.
Buy Direct requires a Universal Commerce Protocol integration. TikTok has not given a general availability date for these tools.
Qualifying a lead
Lead Agent uses a businessโs approved knowledge base to answer questions, qualify prospects and collect contact details with consent. TikTok describes support for direct messages and advertiser websites, giving sales teams conversation context for follow up.
The practical distinction is where each tool acts. Product answers, checkout and lead qualification address different tasks. These announcements do not establish how reliably the agents answer or whether they improve sales.
